Eleonora Kelemen

September 21, 1927 ~ August 23, 2018 (age 90)
Eleonora “Nora” Kelemen, 90, of Eatontown, died peacefully at home. Beloved wife of 56 years of Istvan Kelemen and loving mother of Ina Kelemen. Born and raised Potiski-Sveti Nikola, Yugoslavia to the late Jakob and Anna Mundroch, Eleonora was a refugee of World War II. She fled from Communism and relocated to West Germany. She met her like-minded husband, Istvan in Germany where he was serving in the United States Army in his own personal war against Communism which was his passion since serving as a freedom fighter while a student in the Hungary Revolution in 1956. When Istvan was later transferred to the United States, Eleonora left her job in Germany as a bookkeeper and settled her family in the US where she remained a devoted wife and mother. Eleonora enjoyed reading, politics, watching tennis, gymnastics and figure skating and she supported the Wounded Warrior Project. She also believed in honesty, sincerity and that hard work brings success in life. Ever the steadfast learner, she continued expanding her horizons, even embracing computers and technology in her 80’s. Eleonora is ever so grateful for her wonderful neighbors and friends and for the Meridian staff who helped her in her journey to recovery. Eleonora wished to be reunited with her family in Germany, where all funeral services will be held. In honor of her support of the Wounded Warrior Project, donations may be made in her memory through her personal memorial donation page at
